After Fire

a series of relief prints that uses woodcuts from historic mail order firework catalogs as source material to reframe early visions of pyrotechnic wonder through a contemporary lens. Merged with digital algorithms and contemporary imaging processes, the work examines how awe has shifted from explosive, uncontrolled bursts of fire to choreographed displays of programmable light. At the same time, the work draws upon the nostalgia of backyard fireworks and small-scale domestic celebrations, situating grand narratives of technological change within intimate, lived experiences of wonder and the sublime.
